Ms. Gilhuly’s professional experience includes journalism, public relations, sales and marketing. She understands real estate marketing, nonprofit business, and the nature of both print and online publication.
Raised in Connecticut, Ms. Gilhuly holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from University of Connecticut. During college, she was a Staff Writer for the Daily Campus, an independent newspaper covering university life. At a production of 10,000 copies per day, the Daily Campus has the greatest circulation of all university newspapers in Connecticut. In 2004, she took an internship for Irish Emigrant Publications, based in Galway, Ireland, where she wrote on each of the 32 counties of Ireland in addition to country-wide news briefs.
Ms. Gilhuly also has nearly 10 years experience in retail sales, and management. This time includes work as a Volunteer Sales Associate for Ten Thousand Villages retail shops in Connecticut and Virginia, where Ms. Gilhuly was elected to serve as a 2007-2008 member of the Executive Advisory Board.
In November 2006, Ms. Gilhuly launched the D.C. Fair Trade Network, a grassroots trade justice advocacy network for the Washington, D.C. Metro region and its outlying areas. This network has connected conscious consumers, nonprofit professionals, and business owners working in Washington. She designed and continues to manage a blog for trade-justice-related news that has gained the attention of Fair Trade professionals across the country.
