Green America Green Business SealWe at McBride Real Estate Services, Inc. are committed to promoting sustainability in the workplace and take the following steps to maintaining a “green” office by:

  • maximizing the use of existing fixtures in our build out
  • purchasing pre-owned office furniture locally to reduce any carbon footprint of new manufacturing or shipping
  • following suggested D.C. Commercial Recycling Guide for paper, aluminum, steel and tin cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic food containers and beverage bottles
  • recycling used Canon copier cartridges via the Canon Toner Container Collection Center, 6000 Industrial Dr., Gloucester, VA 23061,  and other print cartridges via the eCycle Group (which pays per cartridge received)
  • using rechargeable batteries and recycling used batteries via a local drop-off
  • recycling old CDs/DVDs via Back Thru The Future Technology Disposal: Thru The Future, Free CD/DVD Recycling, 150 Main Street, Ogdensburg, NJ 07439
  • utilizing a web host that partners with NativeEnergy carbon off-setting
  • walking, biking, commuting via public transit to the office, or by telecommuting
  • serving Fair Trade Certified coffee, tea and sugar, which assures our valued farmers were paid fair wages, and worked under fair labor conditions, while practicing environmentally sustainable farming
  • purchasing post-consumer recycled paper products, recycled/refillable pens (such as Pilot® BeGreen V5® Rollerball Pens), and Seventh Generation, non-toxic cleaning products

In addition, our building, 11 Dupont Circle, managed by Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers, has:

  • EPA’a EnergyStar status which “offers a proven energy management strategy that helps in measuring current energy performance, setting goals, tracking savings, and rewarding improvements“
  • Sloan UPPERCUT® Manual Dual-Flush Flushometer for bathroom toilets, “a manual dual-flush Flushometer that provides two water-efficient flush options: Push the handle down for a regular 1.6 gpf flush or tilt the handle up for reduced flush of 1.1 gpf“
