Robert C. Blumel
Robert Blumel, Managing Director with McBride Real Estate Services, Inc., is a licensed commercial real estate consultant specializing in tenant representation and investment sales. With an emphasis on medical clients, sales and acquisitions, and strategic real estate planning, Mr. Blumel - a native Washingtonian - brings to McBride over 30 years of experience in business, non-profit, construction, design, and political fields.
Mr. Blumel began his career in 1993, working in non-profit and political fundraising, campaign management, public policy, and grassroots advocacy. Subsequently, he spent several years as a non-profit lobbyist in financial services before returning to campaign and issue management. Following an entrepreneurial urge, in 2004 Mr. Blumel purchased a local sign company, transforming it to serve the commerical real estate sector. After selling his interest in 2010, Mr. Blumel pursued his passion for art and design by starting his own furniture and fixture design firm. A welder and woodworker, he combined these disciplines to create custom furniture from reclaimed wood and steel.
The lure of commerical real estate, however, and a commitment to help others avoid the pitfalls he encountered himself, drove him in 2012 to get his license and pursue a career at McBride.
Mr. Blumel graduated in 1991 with an International Baccalaureate from the International School in Berne, Switzerland. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees from Virginia Polytechnic and State University in Studio Art and in English, with concentrations in sculpture and ceramics and literature, respectively. He also received a minor in Economics.
Mr. Blumel is a past-president of the Alexandria Boys & Girls Club and a lacrosse coach. He lives with his wife of 20 years, 12 year old son, 2 dogs, 4 chickens, and 6 horses in Davidsonville, MD.
